I am but a bystander looking at this series from my own rose-colored glasses. To be honest, I was perfectly content with that the first time, as the most obviously engaging relationship of the Pilot is that between John Watson and his new-found flat-mate, Sherlock Holmes.
We know her father died, but I suspect her mother is out of the picture as well, and that there are no siblings. The first time we see her, she puts on lipstick and asks Sherlock out. In this case, I truly believe he misinterprets her invitation. He then responds it was a vast improvement, and that her mouth is too small now.
Why Molly’s ‘Sherlock’ Ending Was So Problematic
From a love of treehouses to touching Benedict Cumberbatch’s armpit hair — Louise Brealey is one awesome lady. Louise is basically one of the coolest women on the planet, and she is also the Dream Best Mate you never even knew you wanted. But trust me, after reading this, you will be so in love with Louise you will become the Molly to her Sherlock. Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss’ first rule when writing Sherlock was to never introduce a regular character that wasn’t in the Doyle books — but Louise was so brilliant as Molly they changed their minds.

Haha I love how Molly just stabs a serial killer (she’s always dating those and it’s the same guy who was going to shoot john if Sherlock didn’t jump) with a fork so.
A friend and I were recently talking Sherlock, when I said I thought The Great Game was one of the most shippiest Sherlolly episodes that tends to get over-looked. Not in the romantic sense, but one that indicates Sherlock is attracted to Molly. Hints and signs were present prior to this episode, but they were so small as to be over-looked or dismissed. The Great Game begins in Belarus. Sherlock is interviewing a man in prison for murdering his wife by stabbing. It was a crime of blinded anger and jealousy.

By sittything , November 5, in Characters. It seemed out of character, forced. Fortunately, Louise Brealey I bet I misspelled her name again is a great actress and managed to pull it off imo. Molly slapping Sherl three times, hard is, in my opinion, both ‘out of her normal character’ but at the same time situationally organic. I wouldn’t say I agree that it was ‘lazy’ writing on Mofftiss’s part to have Molly acting so uncharacteristically bold. It shocked the hell out of me and probably everyone watching, precisely because it was so unexpected.
But ‘unexpected’ doesn’t equate to ‘forced’ for me, in this instance. As a doctor she knows just what kind of damage he’s inflicting on himself and his prodigious gifts. Sherlock is the most precious thing to Molly, I think we can agree, and in that moment she was enraged by the person who was hurting him–who was himself. If another person had injected Sherl with drugs, perhaps Molly would have flown into an equal fit of temper. I don’t think there was conscious thought involved here.
Her anger powered her hand-to-his-face motion without her taking the time to analyze her anger. Had she done so, she probably wouldn’t have gotten physical. She’s like a mother who has just spanked her child for darting out into the street, really.
